What we collect

  • Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address. We use this solely to identify your account within eat2gather.
  • Receipt images: Photos of receipts you upload are stored on our private cloud storage (AWS S3) and are not publicly accessible.
  • Payment links: If you choose to add a payment link to your profile, we store that link and display it to other members of the same group to facilitate payment collection.

How we use it

Your data is used to:

  • Create and identify your eat2gather account
  • Display your name to members of groups you belong to
  • Parse receipt images into structured expense data
  • Show your payment link to group members when settling shared expenses

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate eat2gather:

  • Google Gemini (Google LLC) — When you upload a receipt photo, we send it to Google Gemini, an AI service by Google, to read the receipt and extract the expense details. Your image is transmitted to Google for this purpose. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google OAuth (Google LLC) — We use Google's sign-in service to verify your identity. We only receive your name and email address; we do not access your Google account, contacts, or any other data.
  • Amazon S3 (Amazon Web Services) — Your receipt photos are stored in a private, access-restricted storage service operated by Amazon. The files are not publicly accessible.

What is visible to other group members

  • Your name and the expense data derived from receipts you upload
  • Your payment link, if you have added one to your profile

Raw receipt images are not shared with other group members.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data
  • We do not send marketing emails
  • We do not access any Google data beyond your name and email
  • We do not use your receipt images for any purpose other than parsing expense data

Data storage

Your account data and receipt images are retained for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.
